Helping widows find hope for tomorrow.

Why embrace?

In many third world countries widows find themselves completely unprotected and facing devastating poverty.  Embrace is a program that works through the local church to reach out to widows in need and bring spiritual, emotional and physical help.

“pure religion…to look after orphans and widows in their distress”

James 1:27

In this process some widows can qualify to have a simple and dignified home built for them or to have significant repairs and improvements made on their current dwelling.

 What is needed?

  • The Lord has provided funding for the materials to complete the first 12 houses.

  • Each of these house builds requires a team of 12-15 volunteers who will give their time and work to help change the life of a widow and her family.

  • The local church will provide a mason, electrician and a plumber and other volunteers. Shoulder to Shoulder Mexico in Mazatlan seeks to provide a volunteer team from the US who will build the house with the direction of our contractor and team leader. It is a beautiful thing to invest your time and energy in a lasting change for some of the most vulnerable people of society.

how to help

With all of the preparatory work done ahead of time, the house can be completed in 4-5 days with a team of 12-15 people working together. Some of the work requires skills with basic tools but other jobs can be done by a child or any one willing to work hard for a few days.

Will you consider bringing a team of 12 - 15 people from your church or company or family to build a home and Embrace a widow?
